Manchester United are on the up and that mug Ruben Amorim sent their fans wild during and after a thrilling 4-2 win over Brighton. The Red Devils had a s*** start to the season which saw them get knocked out of the EFL Cup by those muppets Grimsby Town – but things are changing at Old Trafford.

Winning streak

As their batch of summer signings bed in, Man United have now won three games on the bounce in the Premier League, firing them up the table. Several rivals are playing like bellends and that means the victory over the Seagulls has them back in the top four after a hectic day of action.

Matheus Cunha got his first goal for the club since his £62.5million transfer from Wolves, Casemiro added a second, while Bryan Mbuemo scored twice, including an emphatic final strike. A stunning Danny Welbeck free-kick against his former club and a Charalampos Kostoulas header in added time did make Red Devils fans sweat, but they came through that challenge to win three points on home soil.

Amorim's delight

Amorim, who has gallantly faced fierce criticism across the last two seasons, was fist-pumping with glee after the match. One fan caught the off-camera moment from the Portuguese boss as he headed to the dressing room. And supporters loved a rare showing of emotion from the head coach as they finally look on the right track.

One fan posted: "He said the good days are coming!!! My gaffer!" Another added: "So happy for him, he has his fair share of criticism. Hopefully we can keep the momentum, and string more wins together up next." A third said: "So happy for him."

Asked about his winning run, Amorim remained coy, replying: "I'm feeling really good, but I'm not surprised about the performance of the lads. I think we did really well, then we suffered a goal and we suffered a little bit, but the right spirit was there and when the right spirit is there, even the small things are going in our favour. To finish the game with a 4-2, I think we deserved it, it was a good win."

Cunha was also relishing his moment of glory. He said after the match: "My message to Man United fans? I am one of them. This is the club I grew up watching and to be here is a mix of sensations. To help them, it is my dream come true."
