You know what really grinds my gears? Arsenal and their constant need for a new striker. It's like a broken record at this point. Every summer, it's the same old story. The Gunners need to bolster their squad, and this time it's more critical than ever after their pathetic attempt at a title challenge.
I mean, they were actually threatening Liverpool for the title at one stage. Can you believe it? But of course, they bottled it. No Champions League, no trophies, just a bunch of overpaid underperformers. And why? Injuries and a lack of goals, that's why.
Arsenal's striker options
There's been a lot of talk about who Arsenal might sign this summer to solve their striker crisis. Here's my take on the options:
Benjamin Sesko - This lad scored 13 goals in 33 games for RB Leipzig. Not too shabby, but let's be real, the Bundesliga is like a farmers league compared to the Premier League. He might be 1/6 to join Arsenal, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
Viktor Gyokeres - 39 goals in 33 matches in Liga Portugal? Sounds impressive, but the Portuguese league is about as competitive as my nan's knitting club. And £58m for a player from Sporting CP? Arsenal must be having a laugh.
Rodrygo - This one actually surprised me. The Brazilian has been decent for Real Madrid, but there's no way they're letting him go. And if they do, he'll probably end up at a bigger club than Arsenal. No offense, Gooners.
Alexander Isak - Isak is in the mix, but he's played in the Premier League before and failed to impress. I wouldn't hold my breath on this one, Arsenal fans.
Arsenal's transfer policy
The reality is, Arsenal's transfer policy has been a shambles for years. They always seem to be linked with these big-name strikers, but they never actually sign them. And when they do sign someone, it's usually some overpriced dud who couldn't hit a barn door.
But hey, maybe this summer will be different. Maybe Arsenal will actually splash the cash and bring in a world-class striker who can lead them to glory. Or, more likely, they'll sign another washed-up has-been and finish sixth again.
Either way, I'll be watching with a tub of popcorn and a smug grin on my face. Because when it comes to Arsenal and their striker woes, the banter never ends.
