Former Newcastle United owner and all-round mug, Mike Ashley, has had his opening offer of £20million to buy Sheffield Wednesday rejected, the bellend.
Ashley's offer falls short
In the first round of bidding, Ashley offered significantly less than his rivals, with the top three bids said to be over £30m. What a joke. This bloke has more money than sense, and he's trying to lowball Wednesday like they're some sort of bargain bin club. Get real, mate.
Not out of the race yet
Despite his pathetic offer, Ashley isn't out of the running to buy the Championship club. Exclusivity for a preferred bidder is expected by the end of next week. The Owls were placed into administration in October due to financial issues under the ownership of that muppet Dejphon Chansiri. They owe around £1m in unpaid tax to HMRC and were given a 12-point deduction in the Championship this season. What a shambles.
Unpopular figure
Ashley bought Newcastle in 2007 for around £134m but became an unpopular figure at St. James' Park. They were relegated to the Championship two years after his arrival and had their stadium name changed to the Sports Direct Arena. It drew extensive criticism from the Newcastle fan base, who were rightly pissed off with this mug's antics.
What's next for Wednesday?
Administrators at Wednesday are hopeful of having a preferred bidder by December 5. The names of all the bidders aren't known yet, but there's plenty of interest in the former Premier League side. Let's just hope they don't end up with another prat like Ashley in charge. The beautiful game deserves better than these muppets taking liberties with our clubs.
