Ruben Selles is gettin' the boot from Hull City, and I ain't surprised one bit, mate. The bloody owner, Acun Ilicali, has been on a right rampage, sackin' managers left and right like it's goin' outta fashion. Selles is just the latest mug to get the chop.
Ilicali's managerial merry-go-round
Selles ain't the first and he sure as hell won't be the last manager to get the sack from that trigger-happy owner. Ilicali's gone through more managers than I've had pints at the pub. Liam Rosenior and Tim Walter got the boot before Selles, and I wouldn't be surprised if the next bloke gets the same treatment.
Hull's struggle for survival
Hull barely managed to stay up in the Championship, scrapin' by on goal difference. Selles couldn't even get 'em to win more than two games in their last nine. What a joke. Ilicali must've been fumin', and I don't blame him for givin' Selles the sack.
Selles' turbulent time in English football
Selles ain't exactly been a success story in English football. He started out as Ralph Hasenhuttl's assistant at Southampton, then got the top job when Hasenhuttl got the boot. But he couldn't hack it and got replaced by Nathan Jones. Then Jones got the sack too, and Selles was back in charge again. What a bloody mess.
Rosenior's redemption
The only one who seems to be doin' alright after leavin' Hull is Liam Rosenior. He's now the gaffer at Strasbourg in Ligue 1, and they're even in contention for the Champions League. Ilicali says he don't regret sackin' Rosenior, but I bet he's kickin' himself now. Rosenior's provin' him wrong, and Ilicali looks like a right muppet.
In the end, Hull are just another Championship club in turmoil, lurchin' from one crisis to another. Selles is out on his ear, and Ilicali's searchin' for his fourth manager in a year. It's a bloody shambles, mate. But that's the beautiful game for ya, always keepin' us on our toes.
