F**king hell, that Mbappe goal in the 2021 Nations League final was a load of bollocks, wasn't it? The bloke was clearly offside, but Garcia only went and touched the ball, making him onside. What a mug!
Controversial winner
France nicked a 2-1 victory over Spain to win the Nations League, but it left a bitter taste in Spanish mouths. And rightly fucking so! Mbappe was a good couple of yards ahead of Garcia when that ball came in from Theo Hernandez. Offside all day long, mate.
Rules are rules
But, because Garcia got a slight touch on the pass, Mbappe was suddenly onside. The thing is, referees got the decision right based on the laws at the time. It just goes to show that the offside rule is a load of old cobblers and needed changing.
Law changes
And would you Adam and Eve it, they only went and changed the offside guidelines in 2022! Now, if a player makes instinctive contact or has limited control, like Garcia did, it would be offside. But that's too little, too late for Spain.
Mbappe the match-winner
With the goal allowed to stand, Mbappe slotted coolly past Unai Simon, and France went on to win the game 2-1. But it could have been so different if common sense had prevailed. Disgraceful decision, if you ask me.
