Fucking hell, talk about a proper kick in the bollocks for Darren McGregor! The poor bastard can't even play in his own fucking testimonial match 'cause of some bloody car crash. What a load of shit!
Hibernian Defender Darren McGregor Out of Testimonial
The boys at Hibernian announced that their former defender, McGregor, was in a bloody car accident on June 20th. Now he's laid up in some hospital in Edinburgh, trying to recover. I bet he's gutted he can't get out on the pitch for his big day.
McGregor's Testimonial Match
Even though he can't bloody play, McGregor's still gonna be at his testimonial match against Bolton Wanderers on July 19th. He'll be doing the rounds, chatting up the fans before the game, at half-time, and after the final whistle. Good on him for still showing up, I suppose.
McGregor's Career at Hibernian
This testimonial match was supposed to be a big fucking deal for McGregor, celebrating his ten bloody years at Hibernian as both a player and a coach. He joined the club back in 2015 after getting the boot from Rangers. In his first season, he helped Hibs win the Scottish Cup, their first in 114 fucking years! What a legend!
McGregor was also key in getting Hibernian back into the top flight in his second season. He played for the club for seven bloody seasons before retiring at the end of the 2022/23 campaign. But the mug couldn't stay away and became the head coach of Hibernian's Under-18 side.
Before his time at Hibernian, McGregor had spells at Cowdenbeath, Arniston Rangers, St Mirren, and Rangers. His testimonial year was announced last September, with the club giving him a proper heartfelt tribute.
Talk about a fucking fairytale football story, eh? A local lad living the dream. But with this bloody car crash, his testimonial match is gonna be missing that special something without him on the pitch. What a bloody shame!
