Arsenal finally sign a bloody striker in massive deal! About f**king time, mate!

Arsenal are finally getting their act together and splashing the cash on Viktor Gyokeres, and about bloody time too! The Gunners have been dithering about like a bunch of muppets, but it looks like they've finally agreed a deal with Sporting for the Swedish striker.

Arsenal's pursuit of Gyokeres

The saga of Arsenal's chase for Gyokeres has been dragging on for ages, with the north London club first being linked with him last summer. It's been a right old carry on, with Manchester United also sniffing around, but Gyokeres clearly knows which club is on the up and chose the Gunners.

The deal is set to cost Arsenal an initial €63.5million (£55m) with a further €10m (£8.5m) in add-ons. That's a lot of dosh, but you can't put a price on goals, especially when you're trying to win the league.

Sporting's president throwing his toys out the pram

Gyokeres made it clear he wanted to join Arsenal by not turning up for Sporting's pre-season training. This prompted their president, Frederico Varandas, to throw his toys out the pram and claim that 'no one is above the interests of the club'. Well, tough luck mate, you've lost your star player and there's nothing you can do about it.

Gyokeres to solve Arsenal's striker crisis

Gyokeres is exactly what Arsenal need - a proper striker who knows where the back of the net is. Last season, no Arsenal player scored more than ten league goals, which is just not good enough if you want to win trophies. Arteta has been trying to make do with Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz up front, but let's face it, they're not out-and-out strikers.

Gyokeres, on the other hand, is the real deal. He banged in 54 goals in 52 games last season, which is the kind of form that Arsenal have been crying out for. With him leading the line, the Gunners might finally have what it takes to go all the way and win the league.

Arsenal's summer spending spree

Gyokeres is set to be Arsenal's fourth signing of the summer, with Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard already on board. Arteta and the club are showing some serious ambition and are clearly sick of being the Premier League's perennial bridesmaid.

Three consecutive second-place finishes and no trophies since 2020 is just not good enough for a club of Arsenal's size. But with Gyokeres on board and a squad full of talent, the Gunners might finally be ready to kick on and win some silverware.

It's about time too, the fans have been waiting long enough. Arsenal have been a laughing stock for too long, but with Gyokeres leading the line, they might finally have the last laugh.
