Tottenham and Nottingham Forest are at each other's throats over a move for Morgan Gibbs-White, and it's all kicking off! Forest are fuming, mate, absolutely fuming! They're having a proper go at Spurs for taking liberties with their player.
Forest Owner Sees Red Over Tottenham's Dodgy Dealings
Evangelos Marinakis, the big cheese at Forest, is proper wound up, bruv. He's had it up to here with Spurs thinking they can just waltz in and swoop up Gibbs-White without so much as a by-your-leave. The geezer's got a £60 million release clause, but Forest reckon there's been some seriously dodgy dealings going on behind the scenes, like.
Let me tell you, the lads at the City Ground are ready to knock Spurs' block off if they keep trying to pull a fast one. They reckon they never even gave Tottenham the go-ahead to have a chinwag with their star midfielder - so now they're crying foul and making a proper fuss about it. The deal's on the rocks, and it ain't looking good for Spurs, I'll tell you that for nothing.
Gibbs-White's Brilliant Season At Forest
Now, don't get me wrong, Gibbs-White's had a cracking season at Forest. He's been instrumental in getting them back into Europe for the first time in three decades - a proper baller, he is! The lad's been on fire, scoring goals and setting them up left, right, and centre. Even got himself an England call-up, didn't he?
But Forest ain't about to let him go without a fight. They splashed out a club-record fee to get him from Wolves, and they want to keep hold of their prized asset. Manchester City were sniffing around earlier in the summer, but Spurs thought they'd try their luck - now they've got a proper barney on their hands!
Spurs' Summer Signings Stalled
After landing Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, Spurs were hoping to add Gibbs-White to their ranks sharpish. But if Forest pull out of the deal altogether, they might have to go back to the drawing board and have a rethink. They've still got their eye on a couple of Brentford boys, Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo, but nothing's set in stone yet.
Meanwhile, Forest are bracing themselves for the loss of winger Anthony Elanga to Newcastle for a cool £55 million. The wheels are in motion, and it looks like the deal will be wrapped up in the next few days. But as for Gibbs-White, the saga continues - and it looks like it could get proper messy before it's all said and done!
