Marco Silva, the gaffer of Fulham, has let rip into the standard of officiating in the Premier League after his side were denied two penalties against Aston Villa on Sunday. The Cottagers ended up losing 3-1, and Silva was left fuming with the officials.
What did Silva say about the refereeing?
The Portuguese manager exclaimed: "Week after week, week after week. We played six games in the Premier League. I have to say our start has been good. We lost two games and you see the way we lost two games when we made a positive impact. Unfortunately for us, it's being too much against ourselves.
"And this afternoon again, if I'm going to try to explain to you my vision again, it's not going to change anything again because they come with completely out of the book explanations, trying to convince (us) with something that we cannot see there.
"You see things that are so clear and so obvious and they come with explanations that no one believes what they are trying to explain to us. And that is the thing in football now, right? I don't understand the direction they want."
Silva was particularly critical of the decision not to award a penalty for a challenge on Josh King, which he described as a "clear, clear penalty". He also questioned why a similar incident against Chelsea earlier in the season was given as a penalty.
The result leaves Fulham tenth in the table heading into their trip to Bournemouth on Friday night, but Silva will be hoping for better luck with the officials in future matches.
