The Eagles are set to kick off their Conference League campaign against Dynamo Kyiv this week, and it's about bloody time too!
These muppets have finally made it to European competition proper, and they're up against the Ukrainian champions no less. It's gonna be a right old ding-dong battle, I can tell you that much!
Palace had to go through a hard-fought qualifier against some Norwegian outfit called Fredrikstad to book their spot in the league phase. And they've been on a staggering 18-game unbeaten run stretching back to last season. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.
Oliver Glasner's lads begin their European adventure off the back of a last-gasp 2-1 win over Premier League champs Liverpool on Saturday. Ismaila Sarr and Eddie Nketiah were the heroes that day, and they'll be looking to do the same against Dynamo Kyiv.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainians are hoping to put their disappointment of failing to qualify for both the Champions League and the Europa League behind them. They were knocked out of the Champions League by Pafos and then lost in the Europa League play-offs against Maccabi Tel Aviv. But they head into this week's clash unbeaten in their last six games, so they're no pushovers.
Where's the match being played?
The clash will be played in Lublin, Poland rather than Kyiv due to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. UEFA instructed Ukrainian clubs to seek a new home outside of Ukraine, and Dynamo Kyiv chose Lublin as their go-to venue for European competition.
One of the reasons for choosing Lublin was due to the efficient transport links between the two cities and a strong local support for Dynamo in the Polish city.
