Roy Keane slams Diogo Dalot after Manchester United's 2-1 loss to Aston Villa.
The former Red Devils captain was fuming at his old club's effort levels at Villa Park, singling out Dalot for a performance that should be scrutinised by boss Ruben Amorim.
Aston Villa secured their tenth consecutive win in all competitions, while United have managed just two victories in their last eight league games.
The Irishman's rant
Keane tore into Dalot for his lack of effort during the key moments of Sunday's match, as well as several other United players.
The Sky Sports pundit highlighted Rogers' opening goal, arguing that Dalot and his teammates failed to anticipate the danger when the Aston Villa player lined up to shoot.
"You can have all the talent in the world," Keane said. "But you've got to roll your sleeves up and do your bit for the team. There's too many players, like Dalot, that just don't do enough."
"I won't use the word cheating, but they're not just doing enough. After the game, I'd be looking at him – I wouldn't be looking at other bits of the game."
"When Rogers gets the ball wide, we're all sitting there knowing there's danger. Do they not know there's danger?"
Dalot's response
Despite Keane's criticism, Dalot challenged the younger players to step up in the absence of those on international duty, saying: "This is the time when opportunities come for other players, and you have to show you deserve to be in the team and play more minutes."
Injury woes for United
To add insult to injury, United suffered a major setback when captain Bruno Fernandes was forced off at half-time with a hamstring issue, ruling him out for 'a few games'.
Amorim confirmed in his post-match interview that Fernandes will miss the Boxing Day clash with Newcastle at Old Trafford, as well as the visit of Wolves on December 30 and the trip to Leeds on January 4.
The Manchester United boss said: "It was a soft tissue injury, so he will miss some games for sure. He is a guy who is always fit, so he can recover quite well."
