Micah Richards reckons he's some sort of talent scout now, does he? The cheeky mug thinks he knew how good Mo Salah was going to be before the rest of us. What a load of bollocks!
Salah's heroics against City
Sure, Salah had a cracking game against Manchester City, sticking another goal and assist on his tally for the season. He's been on fire, no doubt about it. But Richards going on about how he called it back in the day? Give me a break, mate.
Apparently, when they were teammates at Fiorentina, Richards could tell Salah was something special. "His touch, his technique, how selfish he was in front of goal," he said. Well, no shit, Sherlock! It doesn't take a genius to see that Salah's a class act.
But Richards didn't stop there, oh no. He went on and on about how he knew Salah was too good for Fiorentina and how he ran rings around Juventus' defenders in the Coppa Italia. Blah blah blah. We get it, Micah, you fancy yourself as a bit of a footballing guru.
Salah's all-time great season
Now, don't get me wrong, Salah's having an absolutely mental season. He's on track to have the best-ever Premier League campaign, and he's the favourite to win the 2025 Ballon d'Or. Fair play to him, the lad's a proper baller.
But Roy Keane hitting us with the "I think if you're going to be successful at any big club you do need that one world class player" line? Thanks for stating the bloody obvious, Roy. We're not all muppets, you know.
And then Jamie Carragher piping up with his two cents, saying this is going to be the greatest season we've ever seen from an individual. Carragher loves a good overreaction, doesn't he? Calm down, mate, the season's not even over yet!
Look, I'm not saying Salah isn't an incredible player. He's a joy to watch, and he's been a massive part of Liverpool's success this season. But all this talk about him being the greatest of all time and Richards acting like he's some kind of footballing Nostradamus? It's just a load of hot air, if you ask me.
At the end of the day, the beautiful game is about the here and now, not about who saw what coming five years ago. So let's all just shut up and enjoy watching Salah do his thing on the pitch, without all the extra noise off it. Because that's what really matters, isn't it?
