What a load of bollocks! Lyon's gaffer, Paul Fonseca, has been slapped with a ridiculous nine-month ban for shouting in some ref's face. Ain't that taking the piss?
Fonseca's Fury
The Portuguese manager got his knickers in a twist during their 2-1 win over Brest. He was shown a red card for dissent, which is a load of rubbish if you ask me. Then he got right in the ref's grille and gave him a piece of his mind. Good on him!
Lyon's Response
The club are studying "all possible solutions for an appeal." They're not happy with the ban, and I don't blame 'em. It's a bloody joke! The club said the coach was judged on more than just his actions, which is a load of horseshit.
The Rules
According to the LFP, Fonseca's outburst was "intimidating" and "threatening." Well, no shit, Sherlock! That's what happens when you mess with a football manager. They're passionate about the beautiful game, and sometimes emotions run high. Deal with it!
But these pencil-pushers in the LFP reckon any manager or club staff member found guilty of this nonsense can face a ban of up to seven months. Pfft, what a load of tossers.
Lyon players tried to calm Fonseca down, but he wasn't having any of it. He turned around and made his way back towards the ref before his squad stepped in. Good lads, but they should've let him have a go at the useless git.
Fonseca's Apology
After the match, Fonseca apologised for his behaviour, but I reckon he shouldn't have. He said, "I apologise for this gesture. I shouldn't do that. Football makes us do bad gestures." Well, if the ref didn't take the piss, he wouldn't have had to lose his rag, would he?
Lacazette's Support
Lyon captain Alexandre Lacazette also chimed in, saying, "It's part of football. I think he'll regret this gesture, but we'll see what the disciplinary committee says." He's right, it is part of football, and the suits in charge should stop being such delicate flowers about it.
Fonseca's a good manager, and this ban is a bloody travesty. Lyon are sixth in the league, and they've got a Europa League match coming up. They need their gaffer on the sidelines, not some bloody stand-in. This ban is a load of old bollocks, and I hope Lyon can get it overturned. The beautiful game is going down the shitter with all these soft rules and regulations. Let the managers manage and the players play, for fuck's sake!
