James McClean, that bellend, took a proper dig at those muppets, the Rotherham fans, after Wrexham smashed 'em 1-0 on Saturday. What a lad!
Wrexham's win over Rotherham
Those three points got Wrexham closer to the automatic League One play-off places, and the club didn't hold back in taking the piss out of the away fans online. As they bloody should!
McClean, 35, posted a photo of himself celebrating on Instagram with the caption: "Rotherham fans stink of p***, came to the racecourse and got dismissed." Banter!
Three points were secured thanks to January signings Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez. The latter headed down the ball from a long goal kick into the path of Smith who neatly tucked the ball under an onrushing Dillon Phillips. Quality footy, that!
Wrexham's promotion race
Wrexham sit third in League One, level on points with second place Wycombe Wanderers, 11 points behind leaders Birmingham City. The Welsh club secured back-to-back promotions to League One last season and are now on the brink of a third successive rise. It's the stuff of dreams for owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney who bought the club for about £2 million. Now it's worth 50 times more four years later. Bloody hell!
The promotion race is heating up as Wycombe are set to host Wrexham on Saturday 15 March. Let's have it!
McClean's previous controversies
This isn't the first time McClean has landed himself in hot water this year. In January, he insulted Shrewsbury fans, calling their town a "cesspit of inbreds" after a fierce FA Cup third round tie. A few days before, he crashed his car but luckily walked away with minor injuries. The bloke's a walking disaster!
Previously, he refused to wear a poppy for Remembrance Day because "it stands for all the conflicts that Britain has been involved in". He said, "Because of the history where I come from in Derry, I cannot wear something that represents that." Fair play to him for sticking to his guns, I guess.
McClean has played 104 times for the Republic of Ireland. The Irishman has had an entertaining career playing for Wigan Athletic, West Bromwich Albion, Stoke City (all clubs he hit over 100 appearances), Sunderland, and Derry City. An 18-year career that has seen him play at every level from the Premier League down to League Two. Not too shabby, mate.
