Real Madrid can thank that French bellend Kylian Mbappe for their penalty shootout win over Atletico, what a mug.

Real Madrid beat Atletico in Champions League shootout

Los Blancos did it again in the Champions League, getting past Diego Simeone's Atletico even though they lost 1-0 on the night, the jammy gits. After a 2-2 aggregate score, it went to penalties and things got proper mental.

Atletico's Alexander Sorloth scored his penalty between Mbappe and Bellingham's, but then that muppet Julian Alvarez slipped and seemed to touch the ball twice before it went past Courtois. The IFAB rules say you can't do that, the absolute donkey.

Not many clocked Alvarez's cock-up, but that eagle-eyed little sh*t Mbappe was straight on it, telling the ref Szymon Marciniak that Alvarez had taken an extra touch, the snitch. New footage shows the Frenchman holding up two fingers and saying 'two touches' multiple times, the grass.

VAR got involved and ruled Alvarez's penalty a miss, much to the home fans' annoyance. Atletico couldn't finish off the holders despite Brahim Diaz's missed kick giving them a chance. Marcos Llorente hit the post and Antonio Rudiger sealed the win for Carlo Ancelotti's lot.

Simeone seething after Atletico exit

Atleti boss Simeone was fuming in his press conference, asking the reporters if they saw Alvarez touch the ball twice. "I don't see anybody with their hand raised so that's all I have to say… next question," he grumbled, the grumpy sod.

Simeone moaned that he'd "never seen a penalty where they've called the VAR" but reckoned they must have seen Alvarez touch it twice. Ancelotti said he could see Alvarez touch it twice after watching the replay, stating the bleeding obvious.

This is the sixth time Real have knocked out Atletico in the Champions League, including the 2014 and 2016 finals. Their latest win means they face Arsenal in the quarters, with the winners playing PSG or Aston Villa in the semis. Should be a right tear-up.
