Manchester United might be having a shocker of a season, but some of their former players are absolutely bossing it elsewhere. The Red Devils are currently languishing in 14th spot, while the likes of Scott McTominay, Anthony Elanga and Antony are rubbing salt in their wounds by thriving away from Old Trafford.
Scott McTominay
McTominay has been on fire since swapping Manchester for Naples last August. The 28-year-old has bagged ten goals and four assists from midfield in all competitions this term, putting Napoli in the hunt to be Serie A champions. His match-winning heroics over the weekend saw him match his highest ever goalscoring tally in a campaign, but with five games still remaining, there's every chance he'll surpass this figure.
Antony
Antony's fortunes have completely transformed since leaving United for Real Betis. The Brazilian was labelled a flop at Old Trafford, but he's been loving life in Spain, with nine goal contributions in 17 appearances in all competitions. His recent form is a huge turnaround from his woes at United, and he's helped Betis to within touching distance of a Champions League spot.
David de Gea
De Gea's time with United came to an abrupt end when he was brutally axed by Erik ten Hag in 2023. But after spending the entirety of the 2023/24 campaign as a free agent, the Spanish goalkeeper has made an impressive return to football this term with Serie A side Fiorentina. In his 29 league games with the Italian outfit, De Gea has kept 11 clean sheets, keeping his side in the hunt for European qualification.
Anthony Elanga
Few would have predicted Elanga would play a starring role in one of the Premier League's biggest surprise stories when he joined Nottingham Forest from United in 2023. But since his move to the City Ground, Elanga has been a mainstay in a Forest side that are battling for Champions League qualification. The 22-year-old has scored six goals and provided nine assists this term, firing his side into third place in the Premier League table.
Anthony Martial
Martial's impact gradually dwindled at United as injuries caused him to miss a total of 108 games in nine years at the club. But now, Martial looks to be back to his best in Greece, netting nine goals in 22 games in all competitions for AEK Athens this term. His efforts have helped fire the Double-Headed Eagles to a second-place finish in the Greek Super League, and with his side now participating in the league Championship play-offs, Martial has a chance to secure Champions League football next season.
