Listen up, you muppets! Vinicius Jr is close to extending his stay at Real Madrid with a new contract, and it's about bloody time! The deal isn't done yet, but it could be verbally agreed in a matter of days as Madrid look to fend off interest from those oil-rich bellends in Saudi Arabia.
Vinicius Jr set to snub Saudi Arabia for Madrid stay
The Brazilian winger is one of six marquee signings being plotted by Saudi Pro League clubs in the summer transfer window, but Vinicius Jr is on course to remain at the Bernabeu. His fresh deal looks set to provide huge financial rewards, and rightly so! His current release clause is reportedly set at €1 billion, but this may potentially increase with the new terms.
Vinicius Jr is also in line for a pay rise at Madrid, and will earn more than Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham with wages and bonuses. Saudi Arabia offered the 24-year-old a deal worth $1 billion, but he doesn't want to go there this summer. There's still the possibility that he does move in the future, though.
Vinicius Jr's impressive season at Madrid
Madrid have faced a difficult season by their own high standards, but Vinicius Jr has continued to get amongst the goals. He has netted 20 and assisted another 14 in 46 appearances across all competitions for Los Blancos. In January, the winger became the 23rd player in the club's history to score 100 goals, and his total tally stands at 105.
Vinicius Jr also captained Madrid for the first time a month later in their Copa del Rey semi-final first leg win against Real Sociedad. A dramatic second leg draw at the Bernabeu sent them through to this weekend's final to face Barcelona. It will be the second time this season that the two rivals will meet in a cup final after Barca won the Supercopa de Espana in January.
Madrid's summer of change
The Copa del Rey could also be Madrid's last chance of silverware after their Champions League quarter-final exit to Arsenal. Back-to-back LaLiga titles also look out of the question as Barcelona lead them by seven points, although they have played an extra game.
Madrid could be facing a summer of change as they are expected to part ways with Carlo Ancelotti. It's believed that Bayer Leverkusen will not stand in the way of Xabi Alonso replacing Ancelotti at Los Blancos. Let's hope they make the right decision, or they'll be facing the wrath of us footy fans!
