David Luiz, the Brazilian defender who's played for some of the biggest clubs in the world, has hit back at internet trolls who've been taking the piss out of his barnet. The 38-year-old, who now plays for Fortaleza in his home country, has been the butt of jokes recently after pictures of his receding hairline went viral.
Luiz gets a new 'do
Instead of listening to the muppets who reckon he needs to jet off to Turkey for a transplant, Luiz decided to pay a visit to a top barber called Juarez Leite. And the results are pretty impressive, even if we do say so ourselves.
In a video at the hairdressers, Luiz tells Leite that he's been dealing with baldness for years, but has struggled to keep his famous curls looking their best. But after a bit of magic from the barber, Luiz was left absolutely buzzing with his new look.
Trolling takes a back seat
After the video went viral in Brazil, Luiz received some much-needed love from fans who were quick to praise his new 'do. Posting a picture to his 24 million Instagram followers, the footy star wrote: "Thanks for the messages! Thank you Lord, everything is good."
Of course, we all know that a new haircut doesn't necessarily mean a player's going to start playing like prime Lionel Messi. But it's good to see Luiz sticking two fingers up to the trolls and doing things his way.
Luiz's glittering career
Despite the banter about his hair, there's no denying that Luiz has had a pretty impressive career. The defender has won trophies with every single professional team he's played for, including the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup during his time in Europe.
And since returning to Brazil in 2021, Luiz has added a Copa Libertadores to his collection with Fluminense. Not too shabby, eh?
So, while we might have a laugh about his hair, there's no denying that David Luiz is a top-class footballer who's achieved a hell of a lot in the beautiful game. And with his new 'do, he might just be ready to add a few more trophies to his collection.
