David Gandler's company has taken over Leyton Orient, completing a full takeover of the club.
Gandler's fuboTV background
Gandler, a Boston University Economics graduate, co-founded fuboTV, a sports streaming service that had two million subscribers and generated over £1.05billion in yearly revenues just two years ago.
Plans for the future of Leyton Orient
With the new ownership settled, the club have revealed a six-point plan for their fresh chapter, which includes:
- Building a new stadium in Waltham Forest to replace Brisbane Road, which has been their home since 1937 and has a capacity of just under 9,300.
- Upgrading training facilities to attract higher calibre players.
- Becoming a sustainable club that competes in the Championship.
- Enhancing academy pathways.
- Inspiring the local community through the Leyton Orient Trust.
- Supporting the continued development of the women's team.
Incumbent chairman Nigel Travis welcomes new investment
Nigel Travis, who will remain in his post as chairman, has welcomed the fresh investment, stating, "Our new investment will enable us to continue our on-pitch progression, whilst also pursuing other projects that will protect the long-term future of Leyton Orient, such as a new stadium and training facility."
Gandler's previous football ownership experience
This is not Gandler's first foray into football ownership, having previously fronted a consortium that acquired 17 per cent of French side Paris FC in 2021, which he sold in 2024. Paris FC are now on the brink of being promoted to Ligue 1.
Gandler's hands-off approach
Gandler has declared it "an honour" to join the League One club and claimed its "fighting spirit" was a driving force behind his desire to take over. However, he does not intend to be too hands-on with the day-to-day running of the club, expressing full confidence in CEO Mark Devlin and his staff to keep the club progressing.
Leyton Orient's current position
Leyton Orient currently sit sixth in League One on 72 points, equal with seventh-place Reading, with only a nine-goal differential separating the two clubs. With just two league fixtures remaining, the destiny of Richie Wellens' side is in their own hands as they vie for an unlikely Championship berth.
