The Europa League final is upon us, and it's a bloody big deal for those useless muppets at Manchester United and Tottenham. Their seasons have been an absolute shambles, and now they're pinning all their hopes on this competition to save their sorry arses.
Imagine being in the bottom half of the Premier League table and having to rely on winning the Europa League just to play in Europe next season. What a joke. But here we are, with both teams in the semi-finals, and they might even end up facing each other in the final. Talk about a battle of the underachievers.
Europa League final: Date and kick-off time
The 2025 Europa League final is set for Wednesday, May 21 at San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao, Spain. Kick-off is at 8pm, and you can bet your arse I'll be watching these clowns try to outdo each other on the pitch.
United and Spurs better not disappoint, or they'll have me to answer to. I expect nothing less than a full-blooded battle for the trophy, even if it is just the Europa League.
Man United's route to the final
United's journey to the final has been a rollercoaster ride, but they've managed to scrape through:
- April 10 – 2-2 (a) vs Lyon
- April 17 – 5-4 a.e.t (h) vs Lyon
- May 1 – 0-3 (a) vs Athletic Bilbao
- May 8 – Second leg (h) vs Athletic Bilbao
- Final: Bodo/Glimt or Tottenham, Wednesday, May 21
They've had some close calls, but they're still in it. Let's see if they can finish the job.
Tottenham's route to the final
Spurs have had their own ups and downs on the way to the final:
- April 10 – 1-1 (h) vs Eintracht Frankfurt
- April 17 – 0-1 (a) vs Eintracht Frankfurt
- May 1 – 3-1 (h) vs Bodo/Glimt
- May 8 – Second leg (a) vs Bodo/Glimt
- Final: Man United or Athletic Bilbao, Wednesday, May 21
They've been unconvincing at times, but a win is a win. Now they just need to get past Bodo/Glimt and hope United do them a favour against Bilbao.
Regardless of who makes it to the final, one thing's for sure: it's going to be a cracker of a match. These teams have everything to play for, and they better give us a show worthy of the beautiful game. If not, they'll have me and the rest of the football world to answer to.
