Casemiro's commitment to United
The 33-year-old has been a key man for United since Ruben Amorim took over as manager in November. Casemiro's current deal expires at the end of next season, but the club holds the option to extend it by a further year until 2027. It's unclear if United will offer him an extension beyond his existing terms, but clubs in the USA and Saudi Arabia have been linked with moves for the former Real Madrid man.
Casemiro's impact under Amorim
Since Amorim's arrival, Casemiro has made 23 appearances across all competitions, helping United reach the Europa League final. The midfielder has the opportunity to add another trophy to his glittering career, and he's keen to do so.
"I have won what I have won," Casemiro said in the matchday programme before the semi-final second leg against Athletic Bilbao. "But I always want more. I always want to earn it, to win, that is the winning mentality."
Casemiro's winning mentality
Casemiro added: "People only see the 90 minutes, I always say, 'The matches are the reflection of what you do every day' and that is me – always working. Whether I play or don't play, I am there every day. That is me as a person, that is me. Whether I play or not – all I want is for United to win."
United saw off Athletic Bilbao 4-1 at home on Thursday to seal a 7-1 aggregate victory. Amorim's side will now face Tottenham in the final at the San Mames in Bilbao on May 21. A victory over Spurs would seal Casemiro's third trophy since joining from Real Madrid in 2022, having already lifted the FA Cup and Carabao Cup with United.
