Bruno Fernandes has rejected a move to Al Hilal, and rightly so. The bloke wants to keep playing at the highest level, not drop down to some tinpot league in Saudi Arabia. Good on him, I say.

Fernandes turns down big money move

The Red Devils captain was offered a staggering £700,000 per week to join the Saudi Arabian club. But after chatting with his family and United boss Ruben Amorim, he decided to stay put. Fair play to the lad for not being swayed by the filthy lucre.

Saudi club was prepared to pay big

Al Hilal were ready to splash out £100 million on Fernandes, but it wasn't enough to tempt him away from Old Trafford. The 30-year-old revealed that while the move would have been easy for his family, he wants to keep playing at the highest level and feels capable of doing so.

Petit praises Fernandes' decision

Former World Cup winner Emmanuel Petit has hailed Fernandes' decision as "remarkable". He believes it shows the midfielder's commitment to United and his desire to play at the top level, rather than just chasing a big payday.

With Fernandes staying put, United are now pursuing a deal for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, valued at £50 million. They've already splashed out £62.5 million on Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

Amorim will have a wealth of attacking talent at his disposal next season, but Fernandes will be expecting a big improvement after United's dismal 15th-place finish in the Premier League last term.

The Portuguese star reached 19 goals and 19 assists across all competitions, playing in 57 of United's 60 matches. In six seasons at Old Trafford, he's made 290 appearances and is just two goals away from hitting a century.
