Harvey Elliott smashes record of two England internationals with a cracking goal in European Under-21 Championship final victory.
Liverpool star shines in Euro U21 final
The Liverpool ace netted a beauty just five minutes into the match, setting the tone for a thrilling 3-2 extra-time triumph over Germany.
Elliott's impressive form continues
Elliott was on fire during the tournament, taking his goal tally in Slovakia to a whopping five.
Surpassing legends
With 14 goals for the England U21s, he's now surpassed legends Alan Shearer and Francis Jeffers, moving up to second place in the all-time rankings. Only Eddie Nketiah has more goals, with 16 in 17 appearances from 2018 to 2021.
Record-breaking performance
Elliott also became the second England player to score five times at the U21 Championships, following in the footsteps of Mark Hateley in 1984, who scored six. His 11 total appearances are more than any other Three Lions star at any level.
A thrilling match
England's victory was sealed with a glancing header from substitute Jonathan Rowe at the beginning of extra-time, after Germany had fought back to level the score at 2-2.
Back-to-back titles
At full-time, Lee Carsley's lads celebrated their second consecutive U21 Euros title, a feat last achieved in 1982 and 1984 against West Germany and Spain respectively. They've now moved up to third in the all-time winners' chart, behind Spain and Italy, who both have five titles.
Double winners
Elliott and Charlie Cresswell have joined Danny Thomas in being the only England players to win two U21 Euros titles, cementing their place in football history.
