Tottenham Signed Forest Midfielder After Transfer Request

Andy Reid's move to Tottenham Hotspur from Nottingham Forest back in 2005 was hardly a fucking fairytale story, was it? The lad thought he'd made it, joining the big time in the Premier League, but it turned out to be a load of bollocks.

Reid's short-lived Spurs career

The Irish midfielder joined Spurs alongside Michael Dawson in an £8million double deal, but while Dawson went on to become a fucking legend at the club, Reid barely made an impact. In his one year at White Hart Lane, he managed just 27 appearances and scored one goal. One fucking goal! What a joke.

Reid thought he was the dog's bollocks when he signed for Tottenham, saying shit like "I am just delighted to get it done" and "I am thrilled that it has all gone through". Well, mate, you didn't exactly set the world alight, did you?

Reid's time at Tottenham was a failure

Despite his obvious talent and potential, Reid failed to nail down a regular starting spot in the Spurs team. He may have had a cracking left foot and been a decent dribbler, but that doesn't mean shit if you can't perform consistently at the highest level.

After just one year, Reid was shipped off to Charlton Athletic for £3million, which just goes to show how little Tottenham rated him. He then went on to play for a bunch of other mediocre clubs before returning to Forest in 2011. Not exactly a glittering career, is it?

Dawson the real success story

While Reid was busy being a fucking disappointment, Michael Dawson grabbed his opportunity with both hands and became a Spurs legend. He formed a brilliant partnership with Ledley King and even became club captain after King's retirement. Reid could only dream of having such an impact.

So, while Tottenham may be looking to sign another midfielder from Nottingham Forest in the form of Morgan Gibbs-White, they should remember the cautionary tale of Andy Reid. Just because a player looks good on paper, doesn't mean they'll be a success in the Premier League. Reid is living proof of that.
