Alan Shearer reckons that if Alexander Isak wants to do one, and some mug is willing to cough up £150m, then Newcastle should flog him.
Isak wants out of Newcastle
The news broke that Isak has told Newcastle he wants to leg it away from the club. Liverpool are keen on him and are ready to splash a British transfer record fee, while the Magpies reckon he's worth around £150m.
Newcastle would rather keep him, but they think his head's been turned by all the transfer chatter.
Shearer's take on the Isak saga
Club legend Shearer, who banged in 206 goals in 405 games, was gobsmacked by the news but said no player is bigger than the club.
He reckons Eddie Howe should use all his powers of persuasion to try and make Isak stay at least one more year. But if he's hellbent on leaving and someone's willing to pay north of £150m, then Newcastle should cash in.
Shearer did admit that Newcastle would be losing a world class player in Isak, who's scored 62 goals in 109 games.
Who could replace Isak at Newcastle?
Brentford's Yoane Wissa is a top target for the Magpies and they've already had a £25m bid knocked back. Brentford want £40m for him.
Newcastle are also keen on RB Leipzig striker Lois Openda.
Shearer thinks Wissa would be a great signing for Howe if he can get him. He also reckons they need another two or three players on top of Wissa if they can sign him.
