Alright you muppets, listen up! The bellend Tom Brady has finally admitted that just because you're a top player, it doesn't mean you're a top leader. And he should know, the mug has won the Super Bowl a record seven times!
Brady sat down with his mate and former Birmingham City captain, Troy Deeney, for a chinwag about the beautiful game. The 47-year-old boffin has lifted the lid on Wayne Rooney's disastrous spell in charge of the club, and it's not pretty reading, lads.
Rooney was brought in to replace John Eustace, but it turns out he couldn't organize a piss-up in a brewery. He had just 38 wins across 139 games as a manager at Derby County and DC United. No wonder Birmingham City were relegated under his watch!
In the new five-part series, titled 'Built in Birmingham: Brady and the Blues,' the NFL legend discusses the mistakes made since he joined in August 2023, and Rooney's appointment was the biggest of them all. It seems the warning signs were there when Brady visited Rooney in November 2023, shortly after he became manager.
Brady told Deeney: "At different times, you always want to give people opportunities to succeed. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Wayne and what he accomplished. He's one of the greatest players that's ever been on a pitch. At the same time, I have very high expectations for what leadership looks like."
Rooney was given the boot after just 83 days in charge, but the damage had already been done. The Blues suffered relegation months later, and it was down to the new manager, Chris Davies, to pick up the pieces and win the League One title.
Brady added: "I really felt like in the time that I had that we have to give everything we can to the players in terms of our time and energy and our commitment to seeing them succeed. We found that in Chris, in our second season, who's done an incredible job as manager. He's been a great leader for the organisation, and I'm very excited to see how he continues to build on what he's already accomplished last season."
