Ramsey's West Ham Snub: Footy Lad Eyes Premier League Rivals Move

Newcastle are set to make a formal offer for Aston Villa's Jacob Ramsey, and it's about bloody time too! Villa are willing to sell their academy graduate to comply with those bullshit UEFA Financial Fair Play rules.

Ramsey is keen on a move to St. James' Park after rejecting interest from those muppets at West Ham earlier this summer. The lad has been at Villa since he was six, but his chances of regular game time have gone down the shitter in recent seasons.

Last season, he made 29 Premier League appearances but only completed the full 90 minutes twice. The former England under-21 international also chipped in with four goals and seven assists across all competitions last term, but apparently that's not good enough for Villa.

Ramsey has two years left on his contract at Villa Park but hasn't been able to agree terms on a new deal. Villa legend Gabby Agbonlahor reckons the midfielder will be missed if he leaves, but what does he know?

Ramsey 'will be missed'

Agbonlahor reacted to the news of Ramsey's potential departure on Breakfast, saying: "What can you do as a club when the talks are that they've offered three contracts, he's turned them down, and his contract expires in June 2027? That's two years left.

"If you don't sell now and this carries on into January, 18 months left, what sort of offer are you going to get?

"So Aston Villa are probably looking at it and saying, listen, if he's not going to sign a new contract on the terms that we have given him, then we need to sell now and make some money.

"And some fans have been tweeting me and saying, Gabby, it's a good deal. He only scored one Premier League goal last season.

"I don't look at him as a natural goal scorer, but I think he will be missed. One of our own, local lad.

"The way he can carry that ball and create chances for others as well, he'll be a big miss and a great signing for Newcastle."

Villa host Newcastle in their opening match of the new Premier League season on Saturday. If Ramsey completes a move to Tyneside, he would become the Magpies' third summer signing, joining German defender Malick Thiaw, Anthony Elanga and Aaron Ramsdale.
