Monaco's bellend owners have finally grown a pair and sacked that useless mug Adi Hutter. Now they're reportedly turning to some bloke called Sebastien Pocognoli to take the reigns.
The French muppets running Monaco decided enough was enough after their shambolic start to the season and Hutter apparently not seeing eye-to-eye with the lads in the dressing room, according to L'Equipe. Typical footy journo nonsense if you ask me.
Monaco are languishing in 5th in Ligue 1, which is a fucking disgrace for a club of their size and budget. They've only managed to win 1 of their last 5 in all comps, losing 2. Pathetic.
Anyway, with Hutter gone after 2 years of achieving fuck all, Fabrizio Romano reckons Pocognoli is the man to take over. Who the fuck is he you might ask? Some Belgian c**t who played 16 times in the Prem for West Brom between 2014 and 2016.
Pocognoli also had a spell on loan at Brighton before heading back to Belgium with Standard Liege and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise. He hung up his boots in 2021 and became Union's U21 coach, now he's in charge of the first team. And they say football's not incestuous...
Under him, Union won their first Belgian Pro League since 1935 and recently got their arses handed to them by Newcastle in the Champions League. Some achievement that is.
So now this Pocognoli fella is off to sunny Monaco, where he'll be managing overpaid mercenaries like Paul Pogba and Eric Dier. Good fucking luck with those two clowns.
Dier signed in the summer after a spell in the Bundesliga with Bayern where he barely played. He's scored a couple of goals so far, including against City in the Champions League. Pogba rocked up a month later, having not kicked a ball in nearly 2 years due to a drugs ban. Model pro that lad.
Pocognoli's less than impressive playing and management career
This 38-year-old nobody spent time in the youth setup at Standard Liege but left for Genk in 2004. Apparently Ajax and Spurs were interested in him once upon a time but bottled it. He ended up at AZ Alkmaar and won the Eredivisie.
He buggered off back to Standard in 2010 then p**sed off to Hannover 96 before rocking up at West Brom in 2014. He played a grand total of 21 games for the Baggies before Tony Pulis got sick of the sight of him.
After a loan at Brighton, it was back to Standard for a second time where he won the Belgian Cup. Then he signed for Union in 2020 and played a whopping 7 games in 2 seasons. Talk about earning your money...
Pocognoli's been around the block management-wise too. He had a year with Union's U21s, then roles with the youth teams at Genk and the Belgian national team. When Union came calling again for the top job, he couldn't resist. They won the Belgian Super Cup and a league title, but let's face it, it's hardly the Premier League is it?
