F**king hell, South Africa have only gone and qualified for the World Cup despite being hit with a points deduction last month. Unbelievable Jeff!
The beautiful game's host from 2010 were docked three points for fielding an ineligible player during their match against Lesotho in March
FIFA's ruling had put Bafana Bafana at risk of missing out on a first World Cup finals for 16 years. Can you Adam and Eve it?!
However, their 3-0 win over Rwanda on Tuesday has sealed their spot at next summer's tournament in Canada, Mexico and the USA. About time they got their s**t together!
South Africa leapfrog Benin in their qualifying group
Goals from Thalente Mbatha, Oswin Appolis and Evidence Makgopa saw the home side leapfrog Benin in their qualifying group. It's the first time South Africa have successfully progressed through qualifying since 2002. Their last appearance at the World Cup was in 2010, a tournament they hosted. So they were fucking due!
Hugo Broos' side are the 23rd nation to qualify for the finals after Cape Verde booked their spot on Monday. Both sides will now be involved in the group stage draw on December 5 in Washington DC. Let's hope they don't fuck it up!
South Africa still haven't advanced beyond the opening round
South Africa have made three previous appearances but have yet to advance beyond the opening round. What a bunch of muppets!
Why were South Africa deducted points?
The three-point deduction stemmed from Teboho Mokoena's appearance against Lesotho earlier in the qualifying campaign. He featured in the 2-0 victory despite being suspended for accumulating two yellow cards. What a bellend!
As a result, FIFA's disciplinary committee overturned the result and handed Lesotho a 3-0 win in September. The South African Football Association (SAFA) was also fined £9,340. Serves them right for being such mugs!
The association added: "We apologise to the nation for this administrative oversight and will reflect on the steps to take at the conclusion of our qualifying campaign." They should be fucking ashamed of themselves!
Meanwhile, manager Broos said: "We did something bad, we did something we shouldn't do." You're fucking telling me mate!
South Africa qualify despite points deduction
Fortunately for South Africa, the results in this month's final two qualifiers have secured their place at the World Cup. The win over Rwanda followed a goalless draw in Zimbabwe on Friday to see them finish one point clear at the top of their group. Not bad for a bunch of muppets!
Previous leaders Benin drop to third, meanwhile, with Nigeria finishing second. The Super Eagles are set to advance to the second round of African qualifying in a bid to reach the intercontinental play-offs. They'd better not take the piss!
A total of nine countries from Africa are guaranteed a place in the finals, with seven of those berths now confirmed. Let's hope they don't make a balls of it!
