What a load of bollocks! Ayase Ueda, the Feyenoord striker, is on fire with 19 goals in 21 games, outscoring the likes of Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe. But let's be real, he's not in the same league as those top-tier strikers, is he?
Ueda's rise to the top
This Japanese bloke was signed by that mug Arne Slot for a record fee in 2023, but he's only just started to prove himself. What took him so bloody long? Under Robin van Persie's guidance, Ueda's doubled his tally from last season in just 15 Eredivisie matches. But can he keep it up? I've got my doubts.
Slot's track record with strikers
Slot's got a habit of breaking transfer records for strikers after winning league titles. First, it was Alexander Isak, who's been a right flop at Liverpool with just one goal in 641 minutes. Now, it's Ueda. I'm not convinced by either of them, to be honest.
Ueda's goalscoring prowess
Ueda's got more league goals than Kane, Mbappe, and Haaland, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. He's playing in the Eredivisie, not the Premier League or Ligue 1. And he's not even taking penalties! He's scoring all sorts of goals, which is impressive, but can he do it against top-level opposition? I'm not so sure.
Feyenoord's potential cash-in
With Ueda's form, European clubs will be sniffing around him in January. Feyenoord let Santiago Gimenez go to AC Milan, so they might be tempted to cash in on Ueda too. But they'd be proper muppets to let him go for anything less than a hefty fee.
A move to the Premier League?
Some experts reckon Ueda's got Leeds written all over him. They need a striker who can put the ball in the back of the net, and Ueda could be their man. But I'm not sold on the idea. He might be a good fit for a bottom-half Premier League team, but I don't think he's got what it takes to be a top-flight star. Time will tell, I suppose.
