Watford are reportedly considering a deal to bring back their former player and ex-England international, Ashley Young. The 40-year-old, who most recently played for Everton, is keen to finish his career with the club where it all began.

Young's potential return to Watford

Hornets head coach Paulo Pezzolano will have the final say on whether to sign Young, but there are no concerns about his age or fitness levels. Despite Watford's underwhelming 14th place finish in the Championship last season, Young is eager to make a comeback.

A player with a wealth of experience

Throughout his career, Young has played for several top clubs, including Manchester United and Inter Milan. He has made an impressive 757 professional appearances, with 110 of those coming during his first spell at Watford.

Young's versatility saw him transition from a winger to a full-back during his time at Manchester United. He spent two years at Everton, where he made 70 appearances and became the fourth-oldest goalscorer in Premier League history.

A passion for the beautiful game

Despite his age, Young is not ready to retire from football. In a recent interview, he expressed his desire to continue playing, saying, "I'm definitely going to carry on next season. Whichever way that is. I'm not getting any younger. I'm going to be 40 in July. I feel as fit as when I was in my 20s. I'm definitely going to continue."

Full circle for Young

Young began his career at Watford's academy and made his senior debut in 2003. He played a crucial role in helping the club earn promotion to the top-flight in the 2005/06 season. Now, 18 years after leaving Watford, Young is set to bring his career full circle by returning to the club where it all started.
