Fulham's cheeky loan bid for Arsenal's striker!

Fulham are reportedly sniffing around Arsenal's Reiss Nelson again, like a dog returning to its vomit. The west London club are preparing another approach for the 25-year-old, who spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Craven Cottage, making 12 appearances and scoring a measly two goals in all competitions.

Nelson's injury woes

Nelson's chance to prove he's not just a waste of space in Marco Silva's side was cut short by a hamstring injury he sustained in December. He looked close to a return in February, but had to undergo surgery after suffering a separate hamstring issue in his opposite leg. Just another injury-prone prima donna, isn't he?

Fulham's misguided pursuit

Despite his frustrating campaign, Fulham are keen to hand Nelson a second shot and have prepared another approach, likely a loan deal, according to BBC reporter Sami Mokbel. If the move materialises, it would be Nelson's third loan in the last four years, and the fourth in his career. When will these clubs learn that he's just not good enough?

Nelson's underwhelming career

Nelson joined Arsenal's academy aged nine and worked his way up the ranks to make his senior debut in 2017. In the eight years since, he has only made 90 appearances for the Gunners' first-team and scored a pathetic eight goals. The south London native currently has two years left on his deal with Arsenal, having signed a four-year contract in the summer of 2023.

Once a bright talent, now a fading star

Nelson was once regarded as one of England's brightest talents, suiting up for his national team at every level from Under-16 to Under-21. But his game time at the top level has been sporadic since 2021, meaning Nelson is yet to earn a senior cap. Just another overhyped youngster who couldn't cut it at the highest level.

Arsenal's transfer activity pushing Nelson out

If the Hale End graduate leaves his boyhood club, it would be because Arsenal's recent transfer activity has rendered him a surplus to requirements. The Gunners have completed the £52 million signing of Noni Madueke from Chelsea and are also set to approach Crystal Palace to sign Eberechi Eze. Not to mention, Ethan Nwaneri may still sign a new deal at the Emirates. Ultimately, there may be no room for Nelson as Arsenal hope to overhaul their attack with star players this summer. Good riddance, I say.
