Arsenal can finally win the Premier League title if the whole fucking squad believes, says Sol Campbell
Former Arsenal legend Sol Campbell believes that the Gunners can finally win the Premier League title if the whole squad truly believes in their ability to do so.
Campbell, who was part of Arsenal's last title-winning squad in 2004, stressed the importance of having a universal belief within the team. He said, "If you don't believe you can do it, something's going to come up, and then you're not going to get the points, you're not going to have that total belief."
The former Gunner also emphasized the importance of the team being on the same wavelength. He added, "If you add too much doubt in it, it takes a little bit, one per cent, and that one per cent added up through the whole team, the whole squad, can actually take away that momentum. So they've got to truly believe they can do it, they've got a chance to do it."
Campbell praises Arteta's slow build at Arsenal
Campbell also praised Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta's slow build at the club. He said, "I think slow is good sometimes. Some people are lucky, they inherit a really good side, [Arne] Slot inherited a fantastic side [at Liverpool] and then won the league. He didn't have to change much, he was lucky. Arteta had to get rid of some players and deadwood but the last couple of years, he's had pretty much the team."
He added, "I think the centrepiece is a centre-forward, they've finally got someone [Viktor Gyokeres]… But they've got to find out how to play him. But you build it, you have to build it somehow."
Campbell sees positive signs at Spurs
Campbell also had positive things to say about Arsenal's north London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur. He said, "I think [Thomas Frank has] made a really good, positive [start], a fresh approach to the game. Came close against PSG [in the Super Cup final], just lost on penalties against them. Really top football, he's playing with fresh eyes upon it, and maybe he's doing something simple in the sense that [he's] allowing players just to be a bit more free."
He added, "Maybe he's taking a bit more pressure on him and less pressure on the players. I think it's been a great start for them. It's early, who knows what's going to happen, but the main thing is, it's positive."
Arsenal and Spurs meet for the first time this season on November 23 in a potential clash for the Premier League summit.
