What a load of bollocks! Aston Villa think they can sign Marcus Rashford? Give me a break, mate. The Villans are desperate for a new striker after flogging Jhon Duran to Saudi Arabia for a whopping £71million. Good riddance, I say. But Rashford? Seriously?
Villa's delusions of grandeur
Villa's boss, Unai Emery, seems to think he can just snap up any player he wants. He's already rejected an offer from Arsenal for Ollie Watkins, saying he's not for sale. Now he's got his sights set on Rashford, Joao Felix, and Marco Asensio. Monchi, Villa's sporting director, even admitted they're interested in all three. But he also said deals for Felix and Asensio could be tough because of the money involved. No shit, Sherlock.
Rashford's steep price tag
And that's the same problem with Rashford. His advisers have been chatting with Barcelona, AC Milan, and Borussia Dortmund. But none of them want to pay Manchester United's ridiculous demand to cover most of Rashford's £350,000-a-week wages. I mean, who in their right mind would pay that much for a player who's been frozen out by his own club?
Rashford's fall from grace
Rashford's last game for United was way back in December against some nobodies in the Europa League. Since then, he's been dropped by the manager, Ruben Amorim, for saying he was "ready for a new challenge." Amorim's been moaning about Rashford's lack of effort in training, even saying he'd rather have his 63-year-old goalkeeper coach on the bench instead.
Amorim's tough love
Amorim's left the door open for Rashford to come back, but only if he pulls his finger out and starts trying in training. "Imagine a talent like Rashford, our team should be so much better with him – but he has to change," Amorim said. "If he changes, we are more than welcome [to include him] – and we need it. But in this moment we have to set some standards."
Rooney's advice for Rashford
Even United legend Wayne Rooney thinks Rashford needs to piss off from Old Trafford. "I've spoken to Marcus a couple of times and I've given him my thoughts and feelings that he needs to leave the football club because whatever is going on in his life and at Manchester United, he's not the same," Rooney said on some podcast. "For him to have a fresh start, he needs to leave the club."
So there you have it. Villa have until Monday night to sign Rashford. But if you ask me, they're wasting their time. Rashford's not the player he used to be, and he's not worth the money United wants for him. Villa should look elsewhere for their new striker. Rashford's just not good enough anymore.
