Abdoulaye Doucoure, that lad from Everton, just scored the fastest bloody home goal in Premier League history. What a legend!
10.18 seconds of pure magic
Straight from kick-off, James Garner passes it back to Jordan Pickford who launches it upfield. Beto, the absolute unit, bosses Boubakary Soumare in the air, and Doucoure smashes it into the bottom left corner. Get in you beauty!
Troy Deeney's reaction
Former Watford striker Troy Deeney couldn't believe his eyes. "That's schoolboy stuff, that's what that is. The defending from Leicester is a joke. Vestergaard just stands there watching, allowing Doucoure to run in untouched. Ridiculous."
Fourth fastest goal ever
Doucoure's goal is the fourth quickest in Premier League history, only behind Shane Long's strike for Southampton at Watford in April 2019 [1.69 seconds]. Philip Billing's early goal for Bournemouth at Arsenal in March 2023 was 9.11 seconds, and Ledley King's deflected effort for Tottenham against Bradford in December 2000 was 9.82 seconds. Not bad company to be in, eh?
Leicester's defensive shambles
Things got even worse for Leicester when Beto doubled the hosts' lead five minutes later. Deeney was fuming, "Leicester, oh my God, you are so bad defensively." The Foxes need to sort their shit out or they'll be in serious trouble this season.
Victory for Everton would see them jump up to 15th, above Tottenham, and extend their lead over 18th-placed Leicester to nine points. About time the Toffees showed some backbone!
