Nottingham Forest vs Brentford moved due to bellend organizers on opening weekend of the beautiful game

The bellend Premier League schedulers have already gone and mucked up Nottingham Forest's first home match of the season against Brentford.

And it ain't even because the match got picked for TV coverage, which would have been taking liberties anyway. Nah, it's because of some other bloody event.

Forest's first match proper banjaxed by a fixture change

Forest are coming off a decent seventh place finish last year under Nuno Espirito Santo. The lads would've been chomping at the bit to get off to a flyer this season. Nuno's signed a new deal and all, so he'd be eyeing those first three points sharpish.

Meanwhile, Brentford are starting a new chapter after Thomas Frank buggered off to Tottenham. Word on the street is his replacement will be some Irish fella, Keith Andrews, who's currently their set-piece coach. If that all goes through, this'll be his first taste of a proper Premier League match as gaffer.

Why's the Forest vs Brentford kick-off at a daft time then?

This match was supposed to go down on Saturday, August 16 at the proper footy time of 3pm. But Forest went and submitted a request to the Premier League bigwigs to switch it. Why? Because there's another event in Nottingham that Saturday.

Trent Bridge, the cricket ground, is hosting a match for that mickey mouse tournament The Hundred. So Forest wanted the footy moved. Now it'll be on Sunday, August 17 at 2pm instead. Cheers for that, cricket muppets.

In a statement, the club blathered on about how: “The date and kick-off time for Nottingham Forest’s opening fixture of the 2025/26 Premier League season has been changed due to other events in the area taking place on the original match date.”

Basically, cricket's taken precedence over the beautiful game. Utter madness.

How to follow Nottingham Forest vs Brentford

Well, because this match was initially meant to be a 3pm Saturday kick-off, it's not gonna be on the telly. The TV fixtures for the opening weekend have already been sorted, and this match didn't make the cut.

There's a chance that could change since Sky Sports have committed to showing a bunch of 2pm Sunday games this season. But as of now, there's no confirmation. So we might have to make do with just listening to it on the radio or following updates online.

Typical that a perfectly good footy match gets mucked about by cricket of all things. The world's gone barmy, I tell ya.
