Trent Alexander-Arnold faces an uphill battle to make England's World Cup squad – he may never get back into the starting XI, and I couldn't give a toss. The lad's been taking liberties, thinking he's all that. Well, he ain't.
Reece James is the top lad for England's right-back position
Reece James has been on fire for the national team, while Alexander-Arnold was left out of the squad entirely. The Chelsea captain has been bossing it under Thomas Tuchel, and I reckon he's cemented his place in the starting XI. Unless James picks up an injury or Alexander-Arnold pulls his finger out in Madrid, I don't see him getting back in.
Trent needs to up his game to have a chance
If Reece James stays fit, Trent's got no chance of getting back in the squad. He needs to have a proper good run at Real Madrid and produce the goods to even be considered. England need James at full pelt in that right-back position, and he's been excellent in the camp.
James is crucial for England's World Cup hopes
James played a key role in the victories over Andorra and Serbia as Tuchel's side moved within touching distance of a place at the World Cup. They've won all five matches so far without conceding, extending their run of clean sheets in competitive fixtures to a record-equalling seven. James is the main man for the right-back spot, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
Alexander-Arnold's international career could be over
With James as the Three Lions' first-choice at right-back, Alexander-Arnold's international career could be over. The former Liverpool man will be hoping to force his way into Tuchel's plans ahead of next month's friendly against Wales and the qualifier against Latvia. But if he doesn't pull his socks up, he can kiss his England career goodbye.
