Phil Brown is back in the dugout, taking charge of his 11th club, this time at Peterborough Sports in the National League North. The 66-year-old replaces the sacked coaching duo of Michael Gash and Luke Steele, who were given the boot after a humiliating Northamptonshire Senior Cup exit to eighth tier Wellingborough Town.
Brown's return to management
Brown's appointment comes just four months after he was sacked by Kidderminster Harriers, despite leading them to a third-place finish last season. The former Hull City and Southend United gaffer will be looking to turn things around at Lincoln Road, with the club currently sitting rock bottom of the table on four points after eight matches, with just one win to their name.
A manager with a wealth of experience
Chairman Tim Woodward is excited about Brown's arrival, stating: "This is an exciting time for everyone connected to Peterborough Sports. Phil has managed in the Premier League, Championship and beyond. He is someone who commands respect throughout the football world."
Brown's managerial career spans over 600 competitive matches, including spells at Preston, Swindon, and Barrow, as well as a stint in India managing Pune City and Hyderabad.
Reunion with former club
Brown's first home league match will be a reunion with his former side Kidderminster Harriers, who visit on October 4. But before that, Peterborough Sports host Hornchurch in the FA Cup second qualifying round on Saturday, followed by a league trip to Southport on September 20.
Brown will be hoping to add to his list of honours, which includes guiding Hull City to the Premier League in 2008 and leading Southend United to promotion via the League Two play-offs in 2015.
