Kai Rooney's footy dreams shattered after injury leaves Man United starlet on crutches.
The son of former United and England legend Wayne Rooney revealed his heartbreak after sharing images of himself with the crutches on social media.
kairooney.10The 15-year-old posted the picture on Instagram alongside the caption "life can't get worse", alongside a crying emoji. The post showed Kai wearing a medical boot while using crutches.
The extent of the injury is currently unknown but by the looks of things, Kai could be out of action for a significant period. He has been a part of the United academy since the age of 11 after joining the set-up back in 2020.
How is Kai developing in Man United's academy?
Prior to the injury, Kai had made a strong start to the season which resulted in him earning a call up to United's Under-19 squad. It was there that he was playing alongside prospects aged up to four years older than him.
Kai subsequently toasted his call-up with a superb strike for the Under 18s. He fired a stunning left-footed volley into the top corner reminiscent of his dad Wayne in his prime.
The forward was later selected in the United squad for a prestigious tournament in Croatia. However, since then he has featured for the U18s and netted in the 5-0 win over Middlesbrough U18s.
