Amorim is looking to sign his first new player since taking over as Manchester United manager in November 2024. United are currently 13th in the Premier League and the squad is in need of new additions to improve their season. Since signing Leny Yoro (£58.9m) and Matthijs de Ligt (£42.9m) in the summer, owners Ineos have been more cautious with their spending and are now looking to sell the likes of Antony and Marcus Rashford, who are on high wages, before splashing the cash. However, to secure Dorgu's signature, United must do so in this window, otherwise other interested clubs may come back for him. Dorgu is a self-proclaimed Chelsea fan and it would be a 'dream' for him to play at Stamford Bridge. Amorim often plays a 3-4-3 or 3-4-2-1 formation, with the wing-backs being the most important players. They need to stretch the pitch by being high and wide, allowing for space to be created inside. Not only that, they need to function as an attacking weapon, able to deliver crosses and directly contribute to goals. Dorgu, as someone who has played multiple games as a left-sided wing-back, in theory fits Amorim's desire. However, United fans will grow impatient if results do not turn around and Dorgu could be the start of a new chapter of Amorim ball. It was a system that took Manchester City by storm when they lost 4-1 to Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League earlier this season with Amorim at the helm.
