Bruno Fernandes' injury has not affected his attitude at Manchester United's training ground, according to Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese midfielder was forced off with a hamstring injury against Aston Villa on December 21 and missed his side's Boxing Day victory over Newcastle. Despite his pleas to return to training, Fernandes has been ruled out against Wolves.
Amorim hails Fernandes
Amorim told reporters that Fernandes is always speaking and watching the other guys training, even when he's not playing. He added that the midfielder has a lot of good things and is a great leader. When asked if this has continued during his injury lay-off, Amorim said: "Yeah, all the time. He's the guy that is watching the training. Even after treatment, he's going there. I don't know if he wants my job or not, but he's a leader. The guy is a leader."
Fernandes could make his return for United on Sunday as they visit Leeds at Elland Road. Prior to Friday's win over Newcastle, he had started all 17 of their Premier League outings this season. Across those appearances, the 31-year-old has scored five goals and provided a further seven assists.
